The DeskPicture control window offers a few general options that let you control the appearance of your placed pictures on a specific screen connected to your Macintosh.

Place: You can place up to sixteen pictures on each screen you have connected with DeskPicture. For each additional picture you want to add just click the place button and select the file you want.
Replacing a picture: If you like a picture窶冱 placement but want to replace it with a different one, it窶冱 simple to do. You can use one of two methods:
窶｢ Double-click the picture itself. This opens a directory dialog box where you can locate and select another picture for display. When you click 窶廾pen,窶 the selected picture replaces the old one.
窶｢ Hold down the Option key; this causes the 窶弃lace...窶 button to read 窶彝eplace...窶 and clicking it had the same effect as double-clicking the picture.
Disk-based: Selecting this checkbox allows you to save RAM by specifying that DeskPicture will read your pictures from disk instead of loading them into RAM. Be aware that using disk-based mode is somewhat slower than loading pictures into RAM, and that you must have sufficient disk space available to hold the desktop display you have set up (this can range from 22K to a 9窶 black-and-white monitor to over 3MB for a 19窶 monitor in 24-bit color).
Limit memory: When you are using a monitor that supports 24-bit color, selecting this checkbox allows you to cut down on the amount of memory required to display pictures at this resolution. Note that the quality of the displayed image may suffer when this function is activated.
Activate: This checkbox determines whether or not DeskPicture actually displays the picture or pictures you窶况e configured for display on your desktop. When the checkbox is selected, DeskPicture is active and displays your picture configuration. When the checkbox is deselected, DeskPicture is inactive and your standard desktop is visible. This allows you to turn off the DeskPicture display without having to delete the pictures you窶况e set up.
